Steven E. Fern, D.O.

Dr. Steve Fern, GastroenterologistDr. Steve Fern was born in Springfield, Massachusetts and did his undergraduate work at the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio. He is a graduate of the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and is Board Certified in Gastroenterology.

Dr. Fern is a Fellow in the American College of Osteopathic Internists and is a Diplomat of the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners. He is active in the teaching programs of several medical schools.

Dr. Fern cares for adults with gastrointestinal disorders with an emphasis on colon cancer screening and gastroesophageal reflux disease, including Barrett’s esophagus. His special interests include liver disease (including the treatment of patients with Hepatitis C) and esophageal motility disorders. He also has expertise in the latest field of Gastroenterology — wireless capsule endoscopy, an endoscopic examination of the small intestine.

Dr. Fern is married with three children. His leisure time activities include golf, reading, attending sporting and cultural events, and listening to music. He has rediscovered his love for running and competes in local half-marathon races.
